It’s been a fast eight months, topped off by an extremely hot couple of weeks. The weather is now moderating, which should provide for a beautiful fall. Your board has been busy planning driving tours, tech events, karting events and our Capstone activity, Tire Rack’s Street Survival School.
This past July, our club along with the SCCA, provided classroom and roadway training for 43 teen drivers through the Tire Rack Street Survival School program. Since school started two weeks ago, we already have a report where one teen executing on her training avoided a serious accident.
Many thanks to our Street Survival School team, led by Brian Schlueter. Our great group of Instructors and support staff continue to volunteer their time and expertise to make our roads safer.
Did you know, that you too can participate to make our streets safer? Contact board member Chrissy Price about this program and the online instructor education program. Come by the Family Arena on October 7 to see, firsthand, what it’s all about, and how you can make a difference.
Our first Tech Session was held at A&G auto detailing where the experts taught us how to detail the exterior and interior of George McLean’s 3 Series convertible. See George McLean to learn more about A&G’s program.
If you missed the Flat Out Classic at Heartland Park in Topeka, you can still get track time by attending the PCA High Performance Drivers Education with the Porsche Club at Gateway Motorsports Park, or attend the BMW South Central region’s “No Excuses X” Driving School at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, in Oklahoma.
Please follow us on Facebook and our website for driving tours, tech sessions and other club events.
Typically, we have our own Octoberfest at a local brewery, this year, we will be meeting at AUTOHAUS for Neil Westfall’s Annual State of BMW Address along with a Tech Session.
These events attract cross sections of our local 600 members. And I personally want to Thank our board and their committees for organizing these fantastic activities.
See you at the next event!
